Abstract
J. Galejs has considered the propagation of electromagnetic waves in a continuously varying cylindrically stratified magnetoplasma when the imposed static magnetic field is parallel to the axis of cylindrical symmetry. The case in which the fields are independent of distance along the axis was considered. A wave equation was derived which describes the propagation of a wave having only an axial component of magnetic field. In this paper a method of obtaining exact solutions to the wave equation is presented. Examples are given in which the method is used to obtain some profiles of the elements of the permittivity tensor in the magnetoplasma corresponding to particular exact solutions of the wave equation.
