THE nephrotic syndrome, a clinical entity characterized by edema, proteinuria, hypoalbuminemia and hypercholesterolemia, may occur in the adult during the course of either a primary renal disease or a systemic disease involving the kidney. In the former group the nephrotic syndrome often appears as part of the natural course of proliferative glomerulonephritis. However, a significant number of adults without clinical or pathological evidence of glomerulonephritis may present a nephrotic syndrome. This report is concerned with an analysis of these cases of nephrotic syndrome of unknown etiology. On the basis of observations obtained by light-microscope study of renal tissue, the nephrotic . . .Keywords
