Abstract
INTEREST has increased markedly during the last decade in systemic fungous infections as well as in 2 disparate but related areas, pulmonary allergy to fungi and the extraordinary effects of mycotoxins. It seems appropriate to review some of the more interesting data concerning the pathogenesis, clinical manifestations and immunology of these sometimes life-threatening diseases. I shall make no attempt to be comprehensive but instead shall concentrate on the studies published for the most part during the last ten years that appear to me to be of greatest significance, and shall not discuss the therapeutic aspects of deep-seated mycotic infections.
