PUQFUA is an IBM 704 Fortran program, written primarily for Pu239, which calculates from urinalyses the plutonium body burden in microcuries and the percentage of the maximum permissible body burden. It is based on a set of power-function elimination equations developed by WRIGHT H. LANGHAM for the excretion of plutonium over a five-year period. Results with PUQFUA compare favorably with those of other methods. In general, it is easy to apply for a large number of individual samples, and the validation method is objective and requires no past experience with plutonium body-burden calculations on the part of the evaluator.
