Studies of Haemoglobin Synthesis and Red Cell Survival in Haemoglobinopathy H

Abstract
In 6 patients with hemo-globinopathy H, utilization of iron erythropoiesis, red cell survival and the sites of red cell destruction were studied with Fe59 and Cr51. Erythropoiesis seems to be effective in this disease, while there is a shortened red cell survival. Body surface measurements with Cr51 showed that the spleen is not the only site of the red cell destruction.
