Abstract
Improved methods for photochlorination of C60 and C70 are described. The photoproducts fit respectively the average formulae C60 Cl40 and C70 Cl47. It is also shown that these photoproducts can be easily fluorinated by means of KF to give fluorofullerenes. Polyhydroxyfullerene (fullerol) can be easily produced by the action of a methanolic solution of alkali over C60 Cl40.Keywords
