Flow-cell studies of thermal diffusion in liquids. Part 3.—The CCl4+cyclohexane system

Abstract
The laminar-flow technique,1, 2 has been applied to measure the Soret coefficient of mixtures of CCl4 and cyclohexane. Measurements were made at 25°C over the full range of compositions, and at 35°C at one composition. The apparatus, though requiring a careful calibration, proved precise and easy to use. The results are in good agreement with those of Horne and Bearman,4 if their correction for the “forgotten effect” is considered to be inapplicable13 and is neglected.
