A SIMPLIFIED INTEGRATING LIGHT RECORDER FOR FIELD USE

Abstract
The instrument described is a modification of the instrument previously reported by the authors. The recorder here described is made portable by the substitution of batteries for the A. C. powered supply. Since the current required to operate the recorder is < 10-6 amperes, small batteries can be used which have a life approaching the shelf life of the batteries. A method is described for calibrating the unit using an opal sphere for a light receiver. The approx. cost of the instrument has been reduced from $25 to $12 owing to the circuit simplification resulting from use of batteries.
