Ultrasonography in Cholestatic Jaundice

Abstract
To the Editor: The diagnostic problems of the patient with cholestatic jaundice have been raised in two recent case reports from the Massachusetts General Hospital (November 10, 1977, and February 23, 1978, issues of the Journal). These comments refer in particular to the more recent example. We agree with Dr. Ferrucci that the false-negative rate for dilatation of the bile ducts is relatively small for both ultrasound and computed tomography.
