Abstract
RUPTURE of a cerebral aneurysm caused by a mycotic organism is a rare cause of subarachnoid hemorrhage. Published descriptions are few and meager and do not emphasize the importance of making the clinical diagnosis. Bacterial endocarditis may be indolent and not recognized for long periods until the unheralded rupture of a cerebral aneurysm. Even then the diagnosis may not be suspected in the turmoil associated with a serious neurologic illness.
