Abstract
A new and useful method has been developed for analytical evaluation of the distribution coefficient (Kd ) at an infinitesimal exchange. Kd values have an important role for the chromatographic separation of ions. This method is based on the extrapolation of the Kielland plot from an ion-exchange isotherm to zero loading. The usefulness of this method is exemplified by evaluation of Kd values for Cs+ on Al3+−substituted tobermorite which is known to exhibit high selectivity toward Cs+.Keywords
