Abstract
A constructive review was prepared on the effects of blood viscosity in various diseases. It is suggested that an additional insight Into the pathologic states, especially in cardiovascular diseases, can be supplied by concept of the high viscosity syndromes. A preliminary and tentative outline is given on viscosity syndromes in thrombotic states, shock and acldosis, polycythemia, sickle cell diseases, macroglobulinemia, malignancy, and diabetes. The review deals solely with a certain rheologic approach and does not include general review of literature on thrombosis or other diseases. This publication has 24 references indexed in Scilit:
