Abstract
Although a modified constrained Hartree-Fock procedure has been presented which permits calculations in "inaccessible regions" a misconception has limited its acceptance. The idea underlying this misconception, namely, a relation between energy and single-particle energies, is discussed and is shown, both algebraically and numerically, to be invalid. Keywords
