Acute Subdural Hematoma in the Newborn – A case report and review of the literature

Abstract
The case of a newborn infant with a characteristic clinical picture of acute unilateral subdural hematoma is presented, confirmed by brain scan, arteriographic studies and radio-isotopic outline of the subdural collection. The literature concerning the clinical and pathological aspect of this condition is reviewed. The authors emphasize this well defined, although poorly known form of neonatal intracranial hemorrhage and stress the difference between this acute neonatal form and the more common subacute variety of the older infant.
