Abstract
Using inocula of true yeast (Saccharomyces cerevisiae), it was possible to obtain cultures of Giardia duodenalis for the first time. Giardia duodenalis grew equally well on media containing human, horse, or beef serum. With methods described, it is possible to obtain cultures of Giardia together with S. cerevisiae and other yeast organisms without using chick fibroblasts.
