The Influence of Hindered Molecular Rotation on the Dielectric Constants of Water, Alcohols, and Other Polar Liquids

Abstract
The theory of dielectric polarization of polar liquids is used to calculate the dielectric constants of water and some alcohols. Quasi‐rigid coordination models, based upon x‐ray structural investigations, are employed in the calculation of a function g which measures the orientational correlation between neighbors in the liquid. It is pointed out that the correlation function g is closely related to the thermodynamic ``abnormality'' of polar liquids.
