Abstract
Two groups of the loach M. anguillicaudatus were used, one collected from a pond and the other purchased from a fish shop. In the pH 6.8 starch gel electrophoresis, the Hb was separated into 2 regions. Individual variation was detected in the anodic region. The Hb pattern was classified into 3 types A, B and AB. It seems likely that the Hb types of the loach are genetically controlled and that the type AB represents heterozygous type. The band with intermediate mobility in the type AB may be a hybrid band. The observed frequencies of the types A, AB and B in the fish group collected from the pond were 1, 7 and 12, respectively. The Hb of 26 loaches purchased from the fish shop were monomorphic and were classified as the type B. There apparently may be some connection between the Hb type and habitat. This publication has 1 reference indexed in Scilit:
