Abstract
Cystine did not significantly improve the growth-promoting properties of peanut meal protein but appears to have caused a slight improvement in lactation-promoting properties. Methionine improved both growth- and lactation-promoting properties. Our results indicate that cystine and methionine serve primarily to make sulfur deficient proteins nutritionally adequate rather than as unique lactation stimulants. Keywords
