Abstract
Lifetimes in a two-dimensional image-potential-induced electron band have been evaluated. Realistic wave functions, allowing penetration of the electron into the crystal, have been used. This results in a shorter lifetime for image electrons in the (111) noble-metal faces than in the (100) faces. Our results agree well with the recent experimental data of Geisen et al.Keywords
