The Somatic and Meiotic Chromosomes of Cebuella Pygmaea (Spix 1823) With Special Reference to the Behavior of the Sex Chromosomes During Spermatogenesis

Abstract
A study of the somatic and meiotic chromosomes in 7 male C. pygmaea is presented. The number and morphology.of the somatic chromosomes is coincident with previous results. In meiosis, the mean c Masma frequency was 1.9 for the bivalents in diakinesis. In this stage, the X and Y chromosomes are usually separated. The behavior of the X-Y complex was followed through meiosis. A clear sexual vesicle is seen in all cells before the 1st meiotic division, but only in some of the secondary spermatocytes and spermatids, possibly the ones that contain the X chromosome.
