Giant Early Man from Java and South China

Abstract
New Java discoveries prove that Pithecanthropus is a true hominid. Skull and jaw remains revealed a giant hominid, Meganthropus palaeojavanicus, diff. from Pithecanthropus. A form intermediate in size called P. robustus has also been discovered. The larger forms are, in general, the more primitive. These forms are closely related, derivable from the other in the sequence of their size. Examination of teeth in China revealed a new unrelated type, Gigantopithecus (Gigantanthropus), a very primitive but giant man exceeding Meganthropus in size. This may be one of the Asiatic mainland ancestors of Sinanthropus pekinensis.
