HISTOCHEMICAL OBSERVATIONS ON CHICKEN BLOOD AND BONE-MARROW CELLS

Abstract
The distribution and localization of 2 metabolites, lipid and glycogen and 3 enzymes, peroxidase, acid phosphatase and alkaline phosphatase of some cell populations in blood and bone marrow smears of young chickens was studied. A strong peroxidase reactivity in all stages of the developing erythrocytes was observed. Some differences in the histochemical reactivity of chicken heterophils compared to mammalian neutrophils were pointed out.
