Serum Complement Levels in Dogs Undergoing Kidney Homotransplantation.

Abstract
Homotransplantation of kidneys in normal dogs was followed by prompt renal shutdown and progressive failure of the graft. Frequent complement detns. were performed during the 3-week postoperative period. Unlike the situation in human glomerulonephritis and exptl. nephritis a fall in serum complement 1-2 weeks later was not observed. Instead sometimes a significant rise in serum complement followed homotransplantation.
