The Influence of Age on the Skin Sensitiveness of Tuberculous Guinea Pigs

Abstract

Young experimentally infected guinea pigs show slight if any reaction to the injection into the dermis of a watery extract of B. tuberculosis despite the presence of gross lesions of tuberculosis in the regional lymph nodes and in the spleen. The adult mother pigs infected under the same conditions when injected with the same extract show at site of injection marked redness, edema and necrosis.
