Based on studies at 7 localities in New Guinea, certain details of the life history and ecology are described. Life history notes include fertilization, egg deposition, differential emergence and sex ratio, duration of instars, and descr. and illustrations of characters differentiating instars of the larvae. Ecological notes include larval habitat, specific gravity and pH, as-sociated species of larvae, and biting habits.
