Studies on the permeability of erythrocytes

Abstract
The work of Mond on the change in the ionic permeability of erythrocytes at pH 8.3 is criticized. Using buffer solutions to bring the erythrocyte to pH 8-10 no reversal of the ionic permeability was obtained. The potentials at the membrane interfaces are discussed in relation to theories of the mechanism of ionic penetration.
