PREGNANCY DIAGNOSIS BY A HEMAGGLUTINATION INHIBITION TEST FOR URINARY MACAOUE CHORIONIC GONADOTROPIN (mCG)

Abstract
An antiserum to the β subunit of ovine luteinizinn: hormone has been used to develop a simple, rapid, and specific hemagglutination inhibition test for urinary macaque chorionic gonadotropin (mCG), Reliable diagnosis of 20 pregnancies were made using neat urine specimens collected on all days between the 18th and 23rd dav after fertilization. Only 0.2 ml of urine vrere needed for the test which required 2 hours to complete. When urinarv concentrates were tested, diagnostic results were obtained on the 16th day of pregnancy. The rate of “false positive” tests was less than 1%.
