Abstract
Excision of the uretero-vesical valve, intra-vesical ureter, in dogs leads to the production of an hydroureter. Removal of [image] to [image] of the intra-vesical ureter does not render it incompetent to normal intra-vesical pressure changes. Two hydro-ureters in pigs were studied, in which no obstruction was noted; the valves were found to be edematous and incompetent. No change in the activity of the ureter was noted through progressive dilatation. Both peristaltic and anti-peristaltic contractions were observed. In this series the maximal pressure developed by the ureter during contraction was 28 mm. Hg.This publication has 13 references indexed in Scilit:
