POSTERIOR PITUITARY EXTRACT AND CHOLESTEROL METABOLISM

Abstract
Twenty young rabbits each received 1 cc. of pituitary extract per day for 10 days. There resulted a 30% increase in blood cholesterol in 85% of the rabbits and a 14% decrease in 10%, with no change in 5%. Explanation for this action can be found in the selective action of pituitary secretion on mesenchy-mal tissues.
