Abstract
Summary: Two haemagglutinating fractions have been found in vaccinia virus suspensions prepared from specifically infected chorioallantoic membranes. A soluble haemagglutinin is completely separable from the infective virus units. It is Seitz filterable, not sedimented by centrifugation at 17,000 rpm for three hours and is heat labile. A second haemagglutinin is more closely associated with the elementary body. It is not Seitz filterable, is sedimented by centrifugation at 17,000 rpm and is heat stable. Further work is in progress regarding the serological differentiation of these fractions. Keywords
