Abstract
At higher levels of teeth with dental calculus, oral debris, unsatisfactory fillings, carious lesions and number of teeth missing but not replaced, younger persons had less periodontal diseases than older persons expressed in terms of percentages of teeth with gingival unit involvement, periodontal pocket formation, abnormal tooth mobility and gingival recession. At lower levels younger and older persons had the same prevalence and severity of most forms of periodontal disease.
