A Comparison of Rates of Tetrazolium Reduction and Oxygen Consumption by Various Human Tissues

Abstract
Comparative studies on the rates of reduction of tetrazolium and consumption of oxygen by human tissues revealed a metabolic activity in the tetrazolium experiments which was only 3 to 5% of that found by manometric measurements of the consumption of oxygen. The findings are in agreement with those reported by Barker for rat tissue homogenates.
