Abstract
A technique for transbuccal hypophysectomy of the fowl is described, together with the necessary modifications for other birds. Hypophysectomy in the fowl usually results in death within 48 hrs. This effect, which can often be avoided by appropriate replacement therapy, is apparently due to the severe metabolic disturbance which follows removal of the pituitary. This publication has 2 references indexed in Scilit:
