Photoperiodic Induction of Disbudded Perilla Plants.

Abstract
Short day induction of Perilla ocymoides is possible when the plants are completely disbudded. Plants were disbudded and defoliated to a single pair of leaves prior to inductive treatments; after induction the donor leaves were grafted to vegetative receptor plants completely defoliated and disbudded except for the terminal apex. In 3 such experiments flowers were observed at the receptor apex within 30 to 40 days after grafting. These results with Perilla are in contrast with Carr''s work with Xanthium and soybean.
