The determination of vitamin C by means of its influence on the body weight of guinea-pigs

Abstract

Protection from scurvy afforded by different doses of vitamin C was found to be in accord with the increase in weight of the guinea-pigs. The accuracy of the method is not greater than that of the "tooth" method and its only advantage lies in its not requiring histological examinations; the "tooth" method is specific for the symptom measured.
