Stimuli and Their Effects on Awakening of Dormant Ground Squirrels

Abstract
Although a small amt. of water, of the same temp. as the animal, injd. intraperit. into dormant ground squirrels will awaken them from "hibernation", neither needle pricking nor the injn. of air or oil will effect this. During the process of full awakening the following changes take place body temp. rises; the red blood cell count and hematocrit ratio decrease; the white blood cell and the platelet counts increase; blood clotting time decreases; and complete blood clots are formed.
