Sensitivity of the (He3,t) Reaction to Final-State Configurations

Abstract
The reactions Al27(He3,t)Si27 and Na23(He3,t)Mg23 have been studied at a bombarding energy of 18 MeV. Within each nucleus angular distributions leading to states of the same spin and parity have been found to show a pronounced dependence on the configuration of the final state, contrary to previous suggestions. Such a dependence is consistent with the results of microscopic distorted-wave Born-approximation calculations.
