Arginase Activity of the Salivary Glands and Its Regulation by Androgens.

Abstract
The salivary glands of rats and mice contain arginase activity. The activity of this enzyme in the submaxillary and sublingual glands of castrated rats was de-creased only after prolonged treatment with androgens. The activity in the glands of the mouse, however, were readily de-creased by a large number of C19 steroids. Thyroxine had no influence on the arginase activity of the salivary glands of the rat.
