Abstract
SUMMARY Experiments are described which show that geraniol, the principal volatile component of honeybee scent-gland secretion, is attractive to foragers, but that it is not nearly as attractive as scent-gland odour itself. Foragers could distinguish geraniol from scent-gland odour, and it is concluded that the attractiveness of the latter must depend partly on other components than geraniol. Keywords
