Abstract
This paper reports observations on peat erosion made during a heavy rain storm on the island of Yell, Shetland. Storm water stripped a surface crust from unvegetated peat. The effect of this was to remove large quantities of peat and to expose the underlying peat to other erosion forces.Keywords
