Abstract
After ingestion of an oral tablet of penicillin G (50,000 units), a 52-year-old woman developed a severe anaphylactoid reaction. Treatment consisted of norepinephrine, hydrocortisone, oxygen and other supportive measures. Sixteen other cases of similar nature have been reported in medical literature. Since drugs do not prevent reactions and sensitivity tests are not reliable, it is advised to use the drug only when there are absolute indications.
