Abstract
"Petrofabric analyses of olivine indicatrix orientations in peridotites, basic plutons and intrusive basalts have revealed a common pattern of alignment in which a concentration of alpha poles lies normal to a girdle containing beta and gamma in the plane of the megascopic foliation. This fundamental pattern, together with some variations, is ascribed to laminar flow during intrusion. A similar deformation fabric is developed in olivine tectonites where the glide plane (010) of olivine is oriented parallel to the principal's surface."
