Abstract
Newton's method [1] is altered to obtain a faster convergence than with the normal approach. The method is derived by comparison with the non-linear programming approach [2]-[4] to the solution of the load flow problem. A control of the convergence process is an additional feature of the proposed algorithm. By means of this control, the method converges for cases when the normal Newton's method diverges. Numerical examples show evidence of these characteristics. The alteration is simple to implement on existing Newton programs. Keywords
