Abstract
Plasma hexosamine increases in amt. during the period of rapid growth (4-11 wks.). There are no demonstrable diurnal changes. As little as 1/3 reduction in food intake causes a decrease. Non-specific stress increases plasma hexosamine. Fasting prevents the expected increase following stress. Keywords
