The Magnetic Memory Function of Iron Whiskers at the Critical Temperature

Abstract
The frequency dependence of the magnetic response of an iron whisker at the critical temperature is fitted using a magnetic viscosity field generated from a memory function of novel form. The characteristic relaxation time of the memory function peaks at Tc reaching the range of milliseconds. It is thought that the critical slowing down of magnetic fluctuations is seen through coupling of divergence free modes to the mode driven by the external field.
