Abstract
In a study made with 7 strains of the organism, casein hydrolysate proved a satisfactory N source for all. The strains differed in utilization of NH3. One group could utilize NH3 as the sole N source when glucose and lactate were present. This group required no added growth factors except p-amino-benzoate. The 2d group would not use NH3 as the sole N source, even when lactate and glucose were present. This group, with adenine present in the test medium, required added nicotinate, pantothenate and p-aminobenzoate.Keywords
