Abstract
Summary Together with a complete review of the literature on Pasteurella ureae, the authors present bacteriological and clinical data on eight patients, whose sputum Produced a heavy growth of this unusual organism. Differential diagnosis with other bacterial species giving rise to mucilaginous growth and associated with purulent bronchitis, is presented in table-form. P. ureae is a potential pathogen of the respiratory tract with a predilection for aged males, predisposed by underlying damage of the bronchial tree.
