Cardiac Output by Cuvette Oximeter Under Ether Anesthesia

Abstract
One hundred and nine detns. of cardiac output by cuvette oximeter were made on 20 dogs, under ether anesthesia. The concn. of ether in arterial blood was detd. at the time of each dye injn. The cardiac output increased 71% during the course of successive detn. (between the 23rd and 51st min. of ether anesthesia). The systolic blood pressure rose 4.6%, the diastolic pressure fell 13% and the mean blood pressure decreased 5.3%. The heart rate remained high throughout the observation period. The stroke vol. increased 68% and the peripheral resistance decreased 44%.
