Simple Detection of Fluorescent Stained IgM in Sucrose Gradients: Demonstration of Virus-Specific IgM

Abstract
Serum samples were mixed with appropriate amounts of fluorescein isothio-cyanate (FITC) at pH 9, then centrifuged on sucrose gradients. After separation, the FITC-conjugated IgM antibodies could be removed from the gradient under direct visual control. Staining of the sera facilitated the isolation and detection of IgM as demonstrated for rubella IgM-containing sera.
