Abstract
A novel type of bandpass filter for x rays has been developed for use in studies of hot transient plasmas. Suitable bandpass intervals are defined by transmission through thin K‐edge filters and absorption in matched thicknesses of scintillator material. The scintillator light signals are detected by either a set of photomultipliers or an image‐converter camera, operated in the streak mode. Filters of Mg, Al, Cl, and Ti cover the 1–5 keV photon energy range and are useful with plasmas having temperatures of 0.2–2.0 keV.Keywords
